When you have been in a car accident, you want to make sure that you can get your car fixed as soon as possible. A collision repair center will be the place you need to go to get your car back up and moving. If you are going to get your car into an auto repair shop, there are things that you can do in order to find the right shop.
Call Your Insurance Agent
One thing that you need to do is call your insurance agent. You need to do this for more than just reporting the accident. One reason is that they are going to be able to tell you if they have any repair shops that they prefer to work with. If they have a shop or two that they prefer to work with, then you will have to go there for collision repair services. Otherwise, you may have problems getting your insurance to pay for any repairs.
Get Some Estimates
Another thing that you are going to do is to make sure that you get more than one estimate. Your insurance company may require you to get two or three estimates. Those estimates should tell you a couple of things. One thing they are going to tell you is how long they are going to take to fix your car. They should also give you a good idea as to many actual hours they are going to work on your car. These are often different things. For example, the amount of time it's going to take for them to repair your car may be 5 days because they are going to need to order parts or do paint work. Then the actual hours they are going to work on your car may be 20 hours. That difference may seem extreme to you, but there are generally good reasons for that.
When you have two or three estimates, you can use them to compare to each other. The reason you want to compare is to make sure that they are in the same price range. If you get an estimate that is way outside the price range from the other estimates, you will want to check them all over carefully to see what the difference is.
If you have gotten into a car accident, you want to make sure that you can get your car up and running as soon as possible.
